The event was put together by CSM's Performance Dance Ensemble club, a nonprofit performing arts organization. Dancers dominated the theater with extravagant foot work and graceful dance moves.
Types of dances performed include: Jazz, Contemporary Modern Dance, Ballet, Reincarnation Performance Group, Social Dance, Tap, and Hip-hop.
"Performing for this concert was a good experience, as well as working together," said Gretel Vargas, a CSM dance student.
The scenery was simple, lit up with vibrantly colored backgrounds transitioning to fit the mood of each performance. The Contemporary Modern class had a bright red background which also matched their bright red, orange, and black outfits. This performance was more upbeat, therefore flashing lights and upbeat music were appropriate to incorporate.
The ballet performance by 12 students embraced a more calming and relaxing tone with the slow music being played.
The concert had a variety of dance groups such as, a contemporary modern trio, a social dance of five pairs, solo dancers, and many more group performance
The last performance that caught the crowd's attention had three hip-hop students showing off their break dancing moves and giving off an energetic vibe. They got the crowd to clap along with them as each took turns dancing.
"The hip-hop dance in the end was good," said student spectator Karla Esquivel.
"It was a fun experience to be a part of the CSM Dance Show," said student Ashley Farabee. "The performance really bonded our entire class, through tons of rehearsals and lots of laughs. We had a blast doing it together along with our amazing teacher, Sara Bolton. I can't wait to be apart of the spring dance show."
Dance student Samantha Crosland had the opportunity to choreograph her own piece of work for the very first time. "It was really helpful to have such a supportive environment including my teacher, Sarah, and all of my classmates who gave me all types of feedback," she said. "It was exceedingly enticing and I cannot wait for the spring semester's performance."
"I loved the performances. Samantha Crosland's solo performance was very powerful and clean," said Hansel Vargas, a CSM student.
"I was very impressed by the professionalism shown by all of the dance students," said Sarah Bolton, dance teacher for two CSM classes, who helped coordinate the concert. "The excitement backstage was contagious."
"I'm very proud of all the dancers, choreographers and student volunteers that pulled together to make this performance happen," Bolton continued. The President (George Folau) and Vice President (Angie Sham) of the Performance Dance Ensemble Club were very active this semester. They are a great team which made the production that much more successful."
